HICKORY, N.C. — Hickory Fire officials believe a house fire that happened Monday afternoon was possibly intentionally set.
According to the Hickory Police Department, the fire happened on Street Drive. While on the scene, firefighters found one person in the front apartment and carried this person out of the burning building.
Catawba County EMS checked the victim and transported him to a local hospital for injuries unrelated to the fire. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, which was controlled at around 1:26 p.m.
No other injuries were reported. Fire damages were considered to be major. The Red Cross responded to the incident and will be assisting the occupants.
