CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Violent crimes have been breaking out at Charlotte transportation areas.
On Wednesday morning, a man was shot in the leg at the Transportation Center in Uptown. Right now, police are working to track down the suspect.
The shooting comes as NBC Charlotte is finding more crimes, ranging from robberies to assaults, along the light rail.
Police say officers were called to the shooting at the Transportation Center at around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department released a photo of the suspect they’re looking for in that case.
Above the Transportation Center is a light rail stop in Uptown. NBC Charlotte found other recent crimes along the light rail as well.
On Monday night, police say there was a robbery at the light rail stop at 8315 N. Tryon. 40-year-old Travis Ledbetter is accused of stabbing a 30-year-old man and stealing his backpack.
Earlier this month, a 16-year-old suspect was arrested and charged for robbing a man on the train. Before that, video showed a man struggling with G4S officers. CATS told NBC Charlotte the suspect was asked to step off the train for not paying fare. He was able to get away from officers but was later arrested when he tried to reclaim his property at the Transportation Center.
Just days earlier, a suspect was caught on camera stealing from an elderly man on the train and then brutally beating him. Police later arrested 21-year-old Brandon Hunter, calling it a crime of opportunity.
“I don't wish that to happen to no one,” one rider said.
In the latest case at the Transportation Center, a witness told NBC Charlotte they saw the victim bleeding from the leg. Police say he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
