CONNELLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Newly-released search warrants reveal one of the suspects in a Burke County man's homicide live-streamed the moments before and after the man's death.
Burke County deputies arrested three people, Matthew Dylan Buckles, 20, Ryleigh Elizabeth Waldrop, 28 and Tristian Claude Eugene Shoup, 20, for the death of 19-year-old Dylan Deaton last month.
According to recently unsealed search warrants, deputies first found out about Deaton's death through a phone tip.
Deputies said Waldrop told them the group was getting high on meth.
Investigators said Waldrop told them Deaton "had a bad trip due to the mixtures of illicit substances."
Deputies said Shoup and Buckles then restrained, hit and kicked Deaton because "he got too high and said the devil was in him."
According to search warrants, Buckles began live-streaming Deaton "tripping" as well as the aftermath of their beating.
Investigators said the group dumped Deaton's body along Weaver Lane, which leads to the Lake Rhodhiss boat access.
The three are facing several felony criminal charges, and they're scheduled to appear in court next month.
