Naturalization includes several steps and requirements in voluntarily becoming a United States citizen, according to the USCIS. Some of those include being 18 years old when you apply for citizenship, being able to read, write and speak basic English, and being "of good moral character."

The ceremony is part of USCIS' annual Independence Day celebration of our nation's 248th birthday. USCIS also welcomed new U.S. citizens at Independence Day-themed naturalization ceremonies across the country.
