CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two were killed in separate shootings early Sunday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.
The first shooting happened along Tom Hunter Road around 2 a.m. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Pierre McClain, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident happened near a light rail station in northeast Charlotte.
Another person was found shot to death around 3 a.m. on Echo Glen Road when CMPD responded to a welfare check in the area. This victim was identified at 18-year-old Bellian Garcia.
Additional family members of Garcia were taken to the hospital for shock, police confirmed.
Detectives say the shootings don't appear to be related. CMPD hasn't released any suspect information at this time or announced any arrests in either case. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses can also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and tipsters with information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
