Charlotte firefighters rescue 2 people from burning home

It happened early Friday morning on Prospect Drive.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte firefighters rescued two people from a burning home in northeast Charlotte on Friday morning, according to the Charlotte Fire Department. 

The fire broke out on Prospect Drive, where 30 Charlotte firefighters controlled the blaze in 40 minutes.

Medic evaluated both of the people rescued and sent one to the hospital. 

There were no reported injuries to firefighters. 

The fire is under investigation. The fire department said the fire was probably caused by "improperly discarded smoking materials."

The estimated damages are about $99,000.
