Halloween is Monday but most will be out celebrating the holiday this weekend. Here's five ideas of how to get spooked in the Queen City.
Friday (at the) Knight
Charlotte Symphony resurrects the scores of your favorite horror films. According to their website, the songs will give audience chills and will feature themes from John Carpenter's Halloween, Poltergeist, Stephen King's IT, Psycho and more.
The concert is an hour long at the Knight Theater on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Buy tickets here.
Carved 2016
The Piedmont Culinary Guild will bring together Charlotte's best chefs, farmers, mixologists, food artisans amongst other professional 'foodies' to find the region's best pumpkin carver. Participants will vote on the best pumpkin which will receive the title of Carved 2016 Champion.
Carved will also feature lots of yummy treats, kid-friendly activities, magic and balloon creations, a silent auction and more.
The event will be hosted at Lenny Boy Brewing Co. on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. For more information, click here.
Halloween Pub Crawl
Whether you're crawling because you're dressed up as a giant baby, or it's from one too many drinks, you're all good at this event.
The event titles itself "The Biggest Halloween Crawl in the Southeast" and promises to be better than ever. The crawl will head to 20-plus bars throughout Uptown on Saturday. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
Running Scared 5 Miler & Monster Run
You won't need to feel guilty about eating too much Halloween candy with this event.
The Inaugural race is described as a high-speed parade of superheroes, zombies and foam beer bottles. The race will be in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday at 9/9:30 a.m. and costumes are highly encouraged.
"Our local 5 Miler or Monster Mile is as fine a place as any for your giant banana suit," their website says.
Even if you're not a runner, the event offers food trucks, a beer garden, costume contest, kids' area and entertainment. To register or volunteer, click here.
Red Clay Howl-o-Ween pet costume party
Halloween is a holiday for the WHOLE family, including furry members! And Red Clay Ciderworks knows it.
On Sunday, Red Clay will host an event full of hot mulled cider, trick or dog treats and a doggie costume contest. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed and here's a hint, their website encourages pet/owner dual costumes.
The event will be from noon to 5 p.m. and food will be served by The Breakfast Food Truck. For more information, click here.
Halloween party at Sycamore Brewing
One of Charlotte's most popular breweries is throwing a spooky shindig and best of all, admission is free.
The event will feature live from Pluto for Planet & ScOOt Pitman and DJ Karz. Better come dressed up though, prizes will be awarded to those with the best costumes, including $100 gift certificate to the brewery.

Day of the Dead Celebration
Levine Museum of the New South will hold its annual Day of the Dead Celebration on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will celebrate the traditional Mexican holiday and feature altars, music, dance, food, arts and crafts and a sugar skull workshop. Admission is free. For more information, click here.
