CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A mock disaster drill that had all the look and feel of a real disaster at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport was held Sunday to train first responders.
More than one 100 volunteers posed as the injured or dead, to force crews to make split second decisions on what type of care each patient needs.
This exercise is required for airports at least every three years. The safety drills keep the skills sharp for all of the of emergency personnel at the airport and other agencies that would assist if such a disaster actually occurred at the airport in the Charlotte area.
