FORT MILL, S.C. — Just a short drive from downtown Fort Mill is the 2,100-acre Anne Springs Close Greenway.
The greenway has something for anyone who loves the outdoors. Some of the activities include hiking, biking horseback riding, dog walking and mountain biking.
April is “Love the Greenway Month,” and the whole month is packed with a lot of special events for every member of the family. The newest addition to the greenway is the Crandall Bowles Children’s Farm. This special addition will be open for everyone, this Saturday, April 20, just in time for Earth Day.
The Crandall Bowles Children’s Farm covers over 18 acres, and it’s perfect for field trips, birthday parties and families who love nature and animals. You’ll find ducks, chickens, rabbits, cattle, horses, pigs, alpacas and a llama named Larry.
This new flagship destination offers a combination of education and exploration that combines their former petting zoo and more unique features. There are observation areas for all the animals, a half-mile loop trail, a gathering lawn, an educational garden and an open-air learning center.
In the same area is the Tack Shed. Built in 1885, it’s the oldest structure of the Springs Farm and represents the early farm culture in the community.
The Crandall Bowles Children’s Farm grand opening is this Saturday from 9 a.m. until sunset. It's located at the greenway's stables entrance at 1046 Horse Road in Fort Mill.
