Apartment garage fire intentionally set, CFD says

A fire at an apartment building Sunday morning was set on purpose, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fire Department said its investigators determined a fire on the 6300 block of Woodbend Drive was set intentionally.

Crews responded to the scene of an apartment complex early on Sunday morning.  

Charlotte Fire said the flames, which were reportedly heavy when crews arrived, started on the exterior of the maintenance garage door.

The department said 30 Charlotte firefighters controlled the fire in 13 minutes.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. 

The estimated property loss is $35K.
