BOONE, N.C. -- An Appalachian State University student from Kernersville was found dead in his campus residence hall Thursday.
According to the university's website, they identified the student as 18-year-old Jeremy A. Sprinkle. Officials say his official cause of death has not yet been determined, but they don't suspect any foul play.
Officials also say they have no evidence to suggest there is any threat to the university community.
In a statement on the university's website, Chancellor Sheri N. Everts said counseling center staff met with students in Jeremy's residence hall Thursday as well as students who were in class with him.
Chancellor Everts also encouraged students, faculty and staff to take advantage of counseling and support offered by the university.
