CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Free agent defensive back Bashaud Breeland will not be joining the Carolina Panthers after failing a physical, according to the team's insiders.
Earlier in the week, the Panthers were expected to sign the former Washington Redskins defensive back. Breeland spent his first four seasons in the league with Washington after being drafted out of Clemson in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
In 57 starts with the Redskins, Breeland broke up 59 passes and hauled in eight interceptions.
Team officials did not specify how Breeland failed his physical.
