CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- With a police escort hundreds of people marched in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
"Anything anyone can do to help us address the violence in our community and make this a safer place and a better place to live we're all for it," said Andy Robinson, York Police Department.
To help stop the violence supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement marched.
"It's time to stop the violence time to come together its time to unify," said Quisha Bankhead, the march organizer. "A lot of people need this movement. A lot of people need to know that we can come together with the police and make it peaceful."
People young and old, all walks of life, marched together for about a mile under a heavy police presence.
"I feel like everybody should support everybody not just black people supporting black people or white people supporting white people because we are all humans so therefore everybody should supporter everybody in the movement," said Kendra Blid, one of the event organizers.
Not everything is black and white, but I feel like the last few weeks it has been? asked NBC Charlotte's Xavier Walton.
"It's not about black and white or any other color it's about all lives matter and everybody respecting that," said Kerry Finnery, a Black Lives Matter supporter.
