Car chase ends in Mecklenburg County crash

North Carolina State Highway Patrol in Rowan County said they had clocked the driver traveling 94 mph.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a car chase out of Rowan County ended in a crash in Mecklenburg County on Friday morning. 

NCSHP said a trooper started the pursuit after clocking a car traveling 94 mph on Interstate 85 South near mile marker 71.

The chase moved to I-485 Outer Loop before the driver attempted to exit onto Mallard Creek Road. The driver, who was identified as Colin Thredgill, crashed on the ramp.

Thredgill was taken into custody on Friday morning with charges pending. He suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash, according to NCSHP.
