Driver dies after losing control, hitting tree in Catawba County crash, NCSHP says

The crash happened Monday night on NC-10 near Little Road.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba man is dead after losing control of his vehicle, driving off the road and hitting a tree in Catawba County Monday night.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, the NC State Highway Patrol was called to investigate a deadly crash on NC-10 near Little Road in Catawba County.

A 2020 Alfa Romeo was headed east on NC-10 when the driver of the car lost control and drove off the road, hitting a tree.

The driver was seriously injured and airlifted to Atrium Health in Charlotte, where he died from his injuries Tuesday morning.

The investigation points to speeding as a factor in the deadly crash.
