Discarded fireworks spark Charlotte house fire

Four people were displaced from the fire.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  A house fire that displaced multiple people in northwest Charlotte overnight was sparked by fireworks, the Charlotte Fire Department said. 

The fire happened around midnight in the 9900 block of Earney Drive.

Investigators said the fire was accidental. It was caused by firework debris that had been thrown away in an outside trash can.

Four people were displaced and are Four occupants displaced and being assisted by the American Red Cross. Some of the occupants were evaluated by EMS. 

One person was taken to the hospital. 

The fire department estimates the fire caused $20K in damage to the home.
