CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Amid the Charlotte skyscrapers, a shark circles. The slickest and scariest salesperson in the Carolinas with a business pitch so sharp it could slice you.
But the catch is, she's only 12 years old. Her name is Olive Gordon.
WCNC Charlotte caught up with Gordon at her home. She sat in her bedroom, wearing her Girl Scout vest and badge, showing that she's a part of Charlotte's Hornets Nest Council.
"I have a lot of badges," Gordon said. "I have a lot of them for pretty much anything and everything."
But WCNC Charlotte is focused on one badge, specifically, the one centered around Girl Scout cookies.
“I have broken the council record which I set for 8,700 and I surpassed that to 12,801, and I broke the North Carolina state record," Gordon said.
She said it's all about the sales pitch and the hook.
“Someone told me when I was younger to ask everyone and I was like 'how do you sell a thousand cookies by asking everyone,'" Gordon said.
But she also said it matters where you sell the cookies.
“Roads with a lot of shops," she said, "it proves people are already willing to spend a lot of money on something."
Her awards and recognitions are sweet, but they're all part of something bigger. She said she wants to apply what she's learned and apply it to her life so she can one day get her dream job as a Supreme Court justice.
She said the cookie countdown is on, but don't be fooled; when it comes to selling cookies, this sweet-sounding voice packs a bite.
