CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Sad news for the Queen City. Charlotte did not make the cut for Amazon's second headquarters.

Amazon published their narrowed list of cities for the new headquarters Thursday. Amazon reportedly said it will spend a whopping $5 billion in the city where it builds the second headquarters and will create 50,000 jobs.

"Getting from 238 to 20 was very tough -- all the proposals showed tremendous enthusiasm and creativity," Holly Sullivan, an executive with Amazon Public Policy, said in a statement.

Charlotte made the list of 25 finalists in November, coming in at No. 24 ahead of Phoenix, Arizona. At that time, Atlanta was ranked No. 1, ahead of Boston and Chicago.
