Charlotte police investigating fatal motorcycle crash

The deadly crash happened in the 900 block of Parkwood Ave, Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person was killed in a crash on Saturday afternoon in northeast Charlotte near Uptown, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The fatal crash happened in the 900 block of Parkwood Ave.

The driver of a motorcycle, 28-year-old Spencer Deon Gripp, died at the scene. 

Police say Gripp was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed down Parkwood Ave. when he hit the rear of a Nissan Rogue that was crossing an intersection. 

Gripp’s next of kin was notified of his death.

Charlotte police said more information will be released when it becomes available. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. 

Officials are asking any witnesses to the crash or anyone with information to contact a detective at (704) 432-2169 Extension 2 or Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
