No students hurt after CMS bus rear-ended, district says

There were 41 students on board at the time.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus was rear-ended in south Charlotte Friday afternoon while nearly four dozen students were on board.

The district confirmed Bus 297 had 41 students on board from Smithfield Elementary School when the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. The bus was hit while making a passenger stop along Park Road near Hamlin Park Drive.

CMS said no students were hurt, and the bus was able to continue on its route.

The scene cleared out shortly after 4 p.m.
