CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte SHOUT!, the Queen City's annual celebration of art, culture and community, will return to Uptown next month with one of the biggest festivals yet.
This year's festival runs from March 29 through April 14. Charlotte SHOUT! will feature more than 200 installations, performances, events and activations. Most of these events will be held outdoors and will be free to the public with no tickets required. More than 1.8 million people visited Uptown during the 17 days of Charlotte SHOUT! in 2023, according to Charlotte Center City Partners.
SHOUT! will have some favorite displays return in 2024, including:
- Eggs on Parade: A baker's dozen of beautifully and uniquely designed, larger-than-life Easter eggs created by 13 different artists.
- Musical performances by national headliners and dozens of Charlotte- and North Carolina-based artists on two main stages.
- Surprise installations: Secret alleys and iconic public spaces will look totally different with special art displays and other installations.
New to Charlotte SHOUT! are e/motion, a playful, interactive installation that takes guests back to their childhood seesaw with sensations of surging water. Sonic Runway, a light-art installation that converts audio signals into patterns of light, will make its debut at SHOUT!, plus an all-new interactive exhibit called Optik will be part of this year's event.
In addition to the art and interactive installations, Charlotte SHOUT! will include two festivals within the festival. Charlotte StrEATs will celebrate Charlotte's culinary scene on April 13 and 14. The second event is the Charlotte Ideals Festival from April 6 to 9. This festival features renowned thinkers and innovators who discuss the most important topics of our time. Featured speakers include Emmy winner David Pogue and New York Times bestselling interviewer Kelly Corrigan.
