LOWRYS, S.C. — A crash involving 2 motorcyclists Friday afternoon resulted in the death of one of them, while the other one was sent to a Charlotte hospital for treatment.
South Carolina Highway Patrol said it happened just after 3 p.m. on US-321 in Chester County near Armenia Road, roughly a half-mile north of the Lowrys community. Both motorcyclists - one on a 1998 Harley-Davidson and the other on a 2015 Yamaha, were headed south at the time.
The motorcyclist on the Yamaha reportedly tried to pass the other one, but sideswiped the Harley-Davidson instead. Troopers said this caused both motorcycles to overturn.
The driver of the Yamaha died, while the Harley-Davidson driver was taken to a hospital in Charlotte for treatment. As of publication, the coroner's office hasn't identified the motorcyclist who died.
