CLAREMONT, N.C. -- Claremont Elementary School was evacuated Thursday morning after the discovery of a suspicious package.
According to Claremont City Manager, the package was delivered to the school around 6:30 a.m. After its discovery, school officials decided to take 'extreme caution' by delaying school.
Parents were notified that class had been delayed and anyone that arrived for school was taken to a nearby safe location.
A bomb squad was called in to ensure the package's safety. Around 10:41 a.m. law enforcement concluded that the school was safe. Students and staff resumed the normal school day.
