CMPD bomb squad responds to home after discovery of 'old, possibly hazardous device'

Police have not clarified what the device was.

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department bomb squad responded to Pine Mountain Road, not far from Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, after the discovery of "an old, possibly hazardous device."

The bomb squad was active at a private home in northwest Charlotte where the device was found.

A WCNC Charlotte photographer at the scene heard an explosion, but did not see it. 

Police have not clarified what the device was, but police confirmed nobody was hurt and no damages were reported.
