CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A natural gas leak in uptown Charlotte forced businesses to evacuate and caused major delays on busy intersections Thursday afternoon.
According to Charlotte Fire, the gas leak happened in the 100 block of East Trade Street. It took at least 30 firefighters to control the leak in about three hours.
The leak shut down East Trade Street and North Tryon Street for hours before reopening. The leak also forced multiple businesses to evacuate before the scene was deemed safe.
Officials did not say what caused the leak to happen.
