On Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a man for killing a 15-year-old pregnant teenager in 2009.
Royce Anthony Mitchell, 45, was charged with two counts of murder. Police said Tiffany Wright was shot and killed while waiting for a school bus on Mallard Creek Road. Her baby, Aaliyah Wright, was delivered at the scene and died a few days later.
Lt. Susan Manassah told NBC Charlotte a tip from the community led to the arrest though Mitchell was on CMPD’s radar.
According to a previous WCNC.com article, Mitchell was considered a person of interest and questioned for hours in the fall of 2009.
Wright was a student at Hawthorne High School. She was Mitchell's adopted sister.
