Mooresville community honors fallen K9 officer

Sheldon's K9 teamed up with Clutch Coffee Bar to sell apparel in an effort to assist retired K9s.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — The Mooresville community is keeping the memory of fallen officer Jordan Sheldon alive by supporting a cause that was close to his heart.

Sheldon died in the line of duty in 2019. His legacy will forever remain strong in the Mooresville community. The latest effort to remember the fallen officer included a fundraiser and a cup of coffee.

For every order placed at Clutch Coffee in Mooresville, there was an opportunity to remember K9 Officer Sheldon.

“Jordan was a very special part of this community," Danielle Plyler, a friend of Sheldon's, said. "He was excellent.”

Sheldon's loved ones keep his love for K9s going with the charity organization, Sheldon's K9

"Once those K9s are retired from police departments, the handler is 100% responsible for all of the care," Plyler said. "So all the vet bills, all the feed, anything that a K9 needs, they have to handle that."

Proceeds from all Sheldon K9 apparel goes to helping those K9s while they serve and after retirement. To date, the organization has assisted 13 retired K9s.

Every effort is aimed at helping officers today while remember a hero who was serving his hometown.

“It is amazing that this community still remembers him every single day and comes out in droves because the biggest fear as one of his friends, is him being forgotten, and his legacy is not forgotten,” Plyler said.
