CONCORD, N.C. — For the fourth time this year alone, a Concord Fire Department truck was hit by another vehicle, the fire department said.
Two of the incidents happened in a span of 24 hours.
Sunday morning, the fire department shared photos of a Jeep with extensive damage after hitting a fire truck on Interstate 85. While the fire department didn't provide details on the driver of that car, officials confirmed all firefighters were away from the truck at the time of the crash.
Then, Monday morning, Concord Fire confirmed a truck had once again been hit. In this instance, Engine Co. 11 was blocking for an incident on I-85 when it was hit by a tractor-trailer. The firefighters were not around the truck at the time.
The driver of the tractor-trailer fled the scene, according to Concord Fire. The fire department is now working with Concord Police and North Carolina Highway Patrol as they investigate the incident.
Concord Fire officials are asking the public to pay attention when driving, and move over for first responders.
