CONCORD, N.C. — The Concord community is mourning the death of a teacher and coach for Concord Middle School, Kendall Bost.
A celebration of his life was held in the school's gymnasium Friday at 6 p.m.
Cabarrus County Schools provided crisis counseling teams at Concord Middle School "to support the social-emotional needs of our students and staff members" after his death was announced.
"Cabarrus County Schools is saddened by the death of Concord Middle School staff member, Kendall Bost, over the weekend," a spokesperson for the school district said.
Concord Police confirmed Bost died on Saturday after a car crash on Harris Street. The school district said it cannot provide any additional information at this time "out of respect for the family’s need for dignity and privacy."
"The Cabarrus County Schools' community extends their heartfelt sympathy and prayers to Mr. Bost's family and friends," the spokesperson said.
Concord High Athletic Boosters said in a statement on social media that Bost played at Concord High and went on to teach and coach at Concord Middle.
"He worked hard to nurture and lift up the kids at CMS, especially the young men. He will be missed, but the mark he made on the these young men will never be forgotten," the group said.
