CONCORD, N.C. -- Concord Mills is getting a makeover.

The outlet mall will begin an interior renovation in May that will wrap up by early 2017, according to a press release from Simon Malls, which owns Concord Mills.

Home to more than 200 stores, Concord Mills has a reputation for providing an idyllic mix of sought-after brands, in addition to family-friendly restaurants and entertainment. With the planned interior transformation, Concord Mills will provide a more enhanced shopping experience for the entire family, the statement said.

The improvements will create a brighter, more inviting atmosphere inside the center. Concord Mills will be modernized with updated neutral tones from a timeless color palette.

Additional plans include:

•A completely redesigned and updated Dining Pavilion with a fresh color palette; new bar-height seating; banquettes with soft seating; communal-style tables; new tile flooring and LED lighting.

•Four new lounge areas with soft seating and enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity and chargers. Two lounge areas will be located in Fashion Court (near Michael Kors), one in Runway Court (near SEA LIFE) and one in Style Court (near T.J. Maxx), giving shoppers the opportunity to relax and recharge during shopping breaks.

•Improved lighting throughout the center with illuminated ceiling fixtures featuring state-of-the-art LED lighting, as well as additional skylights.

•Updated way-finding signage to further assist shoppers in locating a store, restaurant or entertainment venue.

The renovation news comes on the heels of the recently announced dining additions including Bonefish Grill, Outback Steakhouse and Chipotle - all opening in new outdoor spaces between Books-A-Million and The Children’s Place. As an added amenity for shoppers, valet parking will be offered for those enjoying the new restaurants.

“Concord Mills’ renovation is a highly-anticipated project for the community and further reflects Simon’s investment in the Charlotte market,” said Ray Soporowski, general manager for Concord Mills. “Our goal is to continuously evolve the shopping experience for our local shoppers, as well as the thousands of people who visit us from outside Charlotte each week."
