Jalin Brown, 25, escaped from the hospital through a window.

CONCORD, N.C. — Officers are searching for a man who escaped from the hospital while in police custody.

Jalin Brown, 25, was receiving medical care at Atrium Health Cabarrus after he was arrested on Friday. Police approached Brown at a gas station on Poplar Tent Road when he drove off from the area. As he drove off, a gas pump hit a nearby officer, according to the Concord Police Department.

Brown crashed a short time later and was taken into custody after running into a wooded area. He was then treated at Atrium Health Cabarrus for dehydration.
