CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you've ever struggled to fit in fun and relaxation around your work schedule, you're not alone. But there's a growing number of people who are making drastic changes to find the perfect work-life balance.
Instead of trying to balance life and a full-time job, more people are opting to work part-time schedules.
WCNC Charlotte is always asking "where's the money?" If you need help, reach out to WCNC Charlotte by emailing money@wcnc.com.
Experts say the hardest part for workers looking to switch up their schedules is simply asking their boss for permission. A whole lot of companies are seeing that their employees can still get all their work done while working less than 40 hours a week.
Several studies have found that reducing work hours by 15% to 20% could have a positive benefit on a person's mental health. Experts say if you're looking to trim your hours by 20% or less, you may not even have to take a pay cut. Instead, try to focus the conversation on what you do at work, not how long you're there.
Economists also argue more part-time workers are better for the economy. If some traditionally full-time gigs were shifted to part-time, it would open the door for more people with busy lives outside of work — like parents — to enter the workforce and make money.
