CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The average age for new mothers is going up in the U.S. and new research says it's good news.
Pregnancy at 35 is now the parental age sweet-spot.
In the past, researchers believed women older than 35 had higher chances of complications with their pregnancy.
But now, doctors say that research is dated.
Researchers say it's not dangerous as long as the mother is healthy.
Pregnancy risks increase with age, but the biggest risks come after the age of 40.
Some new research now suggests healthy mothers between the age of 30-40 could benefit from pregnancy.
The data found these mothers usually face a smaller gender wage gap than younger women.
However, doctors warn, anyone looking to have a later pregnancy should talk with a health professional.
