Now might be the best time to look at buying a home. Here's why

Experts credit the surge to a rise in new construction, and they predict new single family home construction will continue to rise.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you're in the market for a new home, now might be the best time.

A new report from Realtor.com finds the number of homes for sale has nearly tripled in the last two years. This year's numbers are the highest we've seen since the pandemic.

Right now, over 900,000 houses are for sale. That's compared to 350,000 in 2022.

Experts credit the surge to a rise in new construction, and they predict new single family home construction will continue to rise over 8% next year.

The surplus of homes is also good for your wallet. More homes means more choices -- and more room to negotiate.

The influx could also trickle down to benefit renters. Experts predict landlords will start to lower prices and get more creative to fill their vacancies.
