CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After a couple years of declines, employers are planning to hire more recent college graduates than they did last year.
Landing your first job can be hard, but class of 2025 graduates could see more openings this spring.
According to MarketWatch, employers plan to hire 7.3% more graduates than they did for the class of 2024. This is the first expected increase in entry-level hiring in two years.
It comes after a post-COVID labor market slowdown that affected young workers' job prospects.
Still, job opportunities vary by industry.
While sectors like finance and real estate are boosting hiring, others, such as electronics and accounting, plan to hire fewer employees than last year.
Graduates should note that landing a job may take more effort now. Research indicates applicants may need to submit more applications as companies are taking longer to fill positions.
