CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Artificial intelligence is the ultimate buzzword right now and colleges and universities are catching wind of the growing trend.

The university of Maryland reports artificial intelligence-related job listings are up 42% in the last year.

Folks studying the industry say it's becoming a foundational concept like reading or writing.

Now, schools including American University and the University of Pennsylvania are offering dozens of classes to bridge the gap.

It's a powerful tool that could likely answer any question in a text book.

The thinking is, kids are already going to use the technology to help them out in school, so schools might as well teach them how to use it.
