CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A lot of people associate their 20s with partying and staying up late, but now it appears that today's young folks are focusing on making sure they don't miss out on sleep.
Bedtime is now prime time for young adults, but why are they hitting the hay earlier than those before them? Let's connect the dots.
The days of staying out late could be in the past. Experts say they're seeing a major rise in the current generation preferring to take control of their bedtime routines by turning in earlier than their older counterparts. RentCafe reported that people in their 20s reported getting an average of 9.5 hours of sleep a night in 2022. That's up an hour compared to just 10 years ago.
But people aren't necessarily sleeping later. Researchers found the average bedtime is creeping away from 11 p.m. and closer to 9, according to the Wall Street Journal. This has led to places like clubs and bars to offer things like matinee dance parties and other daytime events that appeal to clients who don't want to be out late at night.
