CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As temperatures get colder, it turns out heating up your home might be a little cheaper this year.
Last year's record-breaking winter warmth may keep your gas bills low this winter season.
Even though experts predict temperatures to be slightly colder this winter, it won't be enough to break the bank. The United States Energy Information Administration said there is an abundance of natural gas that went unburned last year.
Hurricane season is also adding to the surplus of natural gas. Helene and Milton have cut power to millions over the past two weeks, meaning those households were not burning gas during that time.
Analysts added that renewable energy sources have also contributed to keeping gas and power prices in check.
