CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new anti-aging drug is waiting for approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and it could be a game-changer.
The new drug is not for humans, but it could help buy you a little more time with man's best friend.
One of the most heartbreaking parts of owning a dog is their relatively short lifespan compared to ours.
But, now, a new drug promises to slow down the clock.
The company Loyal for Dogs tells Business Insider their first-of-its-kind drug recently cleared the first of three hurdles to get FDA approval.
The injection is every few month for 7-year-old dogs or older.
The goal is to extend their midlife, their healthy years, before aging really sets in.
Creators of the drug say it will be affordable and could hit the market by 2026.
Don't have a dog? This is still a big deal.
This would be the first time an anti-aging drug ever got FDA approval. The hope is, if it works in dogs, a similar class of drugs could help humans extend our lives as well.
