Medic said the emergency vehicle was returning to headquarters when the crash happened

The crash happened around 3.a.m. and caused one person to have 'life-threatening injuries,' according to Medic. Another person was transported to the same hospital for less serious injuries.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department asked drivers to stay away from this area, which is in the 6300 block of S. Tryon, until the road is cleared.

This is a developing story.
