One person hurt in 3-alarm fire in Cotswold

Flames broke out just before 7 p.m. in the 4900 block of Silabert Avenue.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was hurt Thursday night after a three-alarm fire broke out in Cotswold, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

The fire started just before 7 p.m. in the 4900 block of Silabert Avenue. First responders were first called to the scene for a two-alarm fire.

One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There was no immediate word on what started the blaze.

NBC Charlotte talked to witnesses on the scene.

"Twenty to thirty people in there," said Paxton Chalfant. "It just got more violent and rushing through."

"Immediately I turned around and got here as fast as I could and on the way, he said, 'Dad, are you close? It's really getting bad," said Bill Chalfant. "Well, as a parent, you're always concerned about your child's safety at first, and all the kids that are with them so it's scary to have that happen."
