CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash after the driver of a car failed to stop at a red light, police said.
The crash happened on North Sharon Amity Road near Shamrock Drive around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said Jairo Zapet Garcia, 29, was driving a Honda Pilot when he failed to stop for a red light while making a turn. Zapet Garcia struck a motorcycle driven by Christine Williamson Miller, 55. Zapet Garcia suffered minor injuries in the crash. Miller was later pronounced dead.
Zapet Garcia is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, no operator's license, and a red-light violation, according to CMPD.
