I-485 in north Charlotte reopens overnight after deadly crash

All lanes of I-485 in the area reopened around 1:30 a.m., according to NCDOT.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A deadly crash closed I-485 in the Mallard Creek area late Monday night, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. The road has since reopened.

The crash happened on the inner loop of I-485 near Mallard Creek Road just after 11 p.m., the North Carolina Department of Transportation said. The Mallard Creek Bridge over I-485 as well as the inner lanes closed as a result.

All lanes of I-485 in the area reopened around 1:30 a.m., according to NCDOT.

No word on what caused the crash at this time. WCNC Charlotte has reached out to CMPD for more information on what happened.
