CMPD: 17-year-old killed in southeast Charlotte crash

The crash happened on East W.T. Harris Boulevard near Independence.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 17-year-old was killed in a crash that shut down a section of East W.T. Harris Boulevard in southeast Charlotte on Wednesday, police said.

The crash happened along W.T. Harris Boulevard near Brook Canyon Drive, not far from Independence Boulevard, around 5 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Medic responded to the scene and saw multiple vehicles involved. The driver of a 1999 Ford Escort, identified as 17-year-old Daunte Palmer, died at the scene.

Investigators said the driver of a 2010 Infiniti hit a BMW, which then hit Palmer's Ford. This caused Palmer to lose control and crash into a tree, according to CMPD.
