Car hits, kills man in Charlotte, police say

The driver of the Honda Accord was not impaired and stayed to render aid.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man died after he was hit by a car early Wednesday morning.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it happened just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of North Davidson Street and Parkwood Avenue. The man was hit by a driver in a Honda Accord and was found lying in the middle of the intersection.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Pliuh Rocom, was taken to a hospital for treatment. However, he died of his injuries later in the afternoon. His immediate family was notified of his passing.

CMPD said the preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Accord had hit the man when the traffic signal was green for cars to enter the intersection. The driver also remained on scene to render aid and wasn't found to be impaired.
