CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a shooting north of Uptown Charlotte on Wednesday.
The shooting happened on Oaklawn Avenue, which is just east of I-77, around 4 p.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
When CMPD officers arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound in a car that crashed in the area. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Carlos Leiva. The car briefly caught on fire at the scene, police said.
