CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — The desperate search to find a 34-year-old man who was swept away in the Broad River in Boiling Springs Saturday continues.
Police said Keenan Little was last seen entering the water from the Broad River Greenway beach access point around 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Little went under the water's surface and never came back up.
Emergency crews returned to the scene Monday morning. The search is now being called a rescue mission and authorities don't expect to find Little alive.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Cleveland County Emergency Center have been among the agencies searching for Little, a Boiling Springs native. Rescuers have used helicopters, boats and ATVs during the search but Little's family members said they will remain hopeful.
The swiftness of the water has made it difficult for officials to pinpoint where Little's body may be. The Broad River runs through parts of South Carolina before eventually feeding and emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.
