Driver killed in Lancaster County crash

The car drove off the road into a ditch, hitting a mailbox, a street sign and a tree before overturning.

LANCASTER, S.C. — One person is dead after a single-car crash in Lancaster County on Saturday night, according to the South Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened around 10 p.m. on McIlwain Road at Providence Road, about 3 miles south from Lancaster.

The driver of a Ford Mustang drove off the road into a ditch, hitting a mailbox, a street sign and a tree before overturning.

The driver died at the scene.

Officials have not released the identity of the person who died.
