Fire crews responds to fire at east Charlotte church

Fire crews saw smoke showing from the back of the building when they arrived.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte firefighters were able to control a fire at an east Charlotte church in under 20 minutes on Wednesday, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

It happened at Logan Chapel CME Church, which is on Parkton Road near Albemarle Road. Fire crews saw smoke showing from the back of the building when they arrived.

In total, 30 firefighters responded to the church.

Charlotte Fire confirmed there were no reported injuries. Fire investigators determined the fire was accidentally caused by a cooking fire and caused $15,000 in damages.
