MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- When an 80-pound propane tank exploded Thursday afternoon in Mooresville, not only did the garage and house catch fire, but the blast blew part of the garage door off the structure.
Mooresville Fire crews were called to the 100 block of Hedgewood Drive Thursday afternoon just before 1:30.
Authorities say an 80-pound propane tank blew up inside the garage of the residence, causing part of the garage door to completely separate from the home. The house was on fire, and damage was noticed to the front door and the front windows of the home were shattered.
Two people were injured in the blast, officials say, but both refused transport to the hospital.
The utilities have been disconnected from the home while firefighters work to clean up and control the scene.
